Hi, I'm trying to trace my Irish ancesters, my GGGrandfather Francis McVey married Margaret Clark June 1842 and they lived at 61 Chapel Street Airdrie...Francis is down as born in Co Tyrone 1819/22, His first Son Charles is down as born in Ireland 1843/45 in the 1861 Census Scotland, the rest of the family are all born in Airdrie,Calderbank and Coatbridge Dundyvan area. My GGrandfather Married Charles married Margaret McKeown/McEwen in Airdrie1865 according to the forms of the Free Church Of Ireland...so his wife was Irish too. My Grandfather Francis was Born in Coatbridge in 1873 and his Mother is down as McKeown. He Died in Glasgow where i was born in 1945. In his Army record he joined the Brittish Army in 1914 with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers at Nass Co Kildare aged 34. I am finding it very hard to track down the village/town in Tyrone where my ancesters came from. Though my Family were Prebytarians they must have been Catholic whilst in Ulster as they were Strongly Jacobites in their views, as i was often told by my own Father, that our Forefathers fough for for the Stuart cause, hence why the names Francis,Charles, Edward, run through the male line, any help with my quest would be greatfully appreciated.Kind Regards Ian.

Glaschu Gaels GFC Tenth Anniversary Dinner Dance - 7th March 2009

The Annual Glaschu Gaels Club Dinner Dance will be held on Sat 7th March 2009. It will be held in the Thistle Hotel on Cambridge Street, with a ceili after the dinner.

Its also the clubs' tenth anniversary and we are urging all members to make the effort to make this our biggest and best dinner dance ever! Anyone connected with the club should bring friends over from home and make a proper weekend of it!

We are also inviting all ex-players and officials of the Gaels to come along for the weekend and hopefully meet up with a few familiar faces! We are also hoping to have a 'new boys v old boys' challenge game so dont forget your boots either!

We will also be announcing our guest of honour soon so make sure you keep checking the website for further details! Our website can be found at www.glaschugaels.com

Tickets are priced at £30 and will be available from club committee members.

If you are interested in coming along email the club at g_gaels@hotmail.com and hopefully see you in a few weeks!

Tam Cowan, John McKie, Stuart Cosgrove, Jim Traynor and the other alleged journalist Bill Leckie should be the focus of any media monitoring. they have been getting away with it for too long!!
